MTNT, Ltd. owns 299,520 acres of the surface estate land located along the upper reaches of the Kuskokwim River in Interior Alaska. History of MTNT Lands
Under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971, McGrath’s land entitlement was 92,160 acres and Nikolai, Takotna, and Telida each received 69,120 acres.
MTNT, Ltd. was established in 1976 as a consolidation of the four villages. The final patent of the land was signed on October 16, 2010. Doyon, Limited the regional corporation in the area, owns the sub-surface estate of this land.
Historically, MTNT, Ltd. lands were home to the People of the Upper Kuskokwim, who depended on local subsistence resources. These lands shaped the People’s cultural values and way of life.
Today, many Shareholders continue to practice traditions handed down from past generations.
